The fall of the Spire of Notre Dame caused a world-wide intake of horrified breath and an ocean of tears, mine included. I surprised myself by siding with President Macron in considering replacing it with a modern, new, icon, following in the daring footsteps of the visionaries who built the Pyramide du Louvre. The President lost that argument and I am just as happy to rediscover the original syle reference point for all of us who love Paris.
The reconstruction was not only a breathtakingly daring enterprise, but it gave rise to some stunning images of its rebirth. I am so happy that it now peeks out at me again from many corners of the Left and Right Banks. Hello old friend!
