As a child, I was fascinated by shadow puppets, an ancient tradition in Asia, which has been beautifully modernised by imitators in the West. Perhaps because of this early experience, my attention was immediately grabbed as I strolled near the Central Park reservoir, as runner after runner passed by, potentially silhouetted in horizontal, early evening light. This is one image of a trilogy, which freezes three anonymous women, framed in the same space between the trees. Their effort and their concentration is etched into their silhouette and emphasised by the lack of colour. Or is it? Look Closer
