My heart has been in my mouth every time that I photographed the scene, as these elegant giants swung massive burdens in and around the slowly emerging, newly reconstructed fabric of the Cathedral.
I carried a secret nightmare that one of them would lose its grip on gravity and hurtle into the construction works, destroying everything that had been saved.
Then I became more confident, impressed with the amazing skills of the operators and - above all- appreciative of the beautiful patterns that they wove around the structures of the site. So I consciously added them to my work, as subjects in themselves.
